NEIGHBOURHOOD DEVELOPMENT ORDER (NDO)

Neighbourhood development orders and community right to build orders grant planning permission for specific types of development in a particular area.

Originally the NDO was put in place to dictate planning on the old pithead site as it has been identified as an area of national significance by Locality and they offered STC funding to facilitate this. The current NDO has been expanded to include the entire pit spoil area in order to help facilitate creation of a country park and ensure that the listed headstocks become a sustainable business that will draw people in from all over the country to learn about Stainforth's mining heritage.

As of May 2023 Stainforth Town Council voted to cancel the NDO but will continue working on the wider Neighbourhood Plan.
